The largest FME user meeting in Europe at the Zeche Zollverein a great success
From 13th-17th June, the FMEdays 2016 were held at the Zeche Zollverein in Essen under the motto "Living transform". Around 260 participants took advantage of the conference organised by con terra and Safe Software for intensive training and networking. The focus was on 40 contributions by FME users for FME users and the new features of the 2016 product versions of FME Desktop, FME Server, and FME Cloud.
The event kicked off with START, the German segment of the global FME World Tour 2016 with interesting FME application examples, including the integration of the 3D city model of Berlin Mitte in Minecraft.
A special highlight in the MEET module were the contributions from Safe Software founder and managing directors Don Murray and Dale Lutz, who set out exciting prospects for future FME developments.
In the technical contributions, FME experts from Germany and all over Europe reported on the many possible uses of FME. The keynotes by Ruhrkohle AG on the history of the company and mining in Germany and by the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance, the Emschergenossenschaft / Lippeverband water board, and the European Environmental Agency on exciting deployment scenarios of FME technology were particularly impressive.
The STUDY module rounded off the conference week: around 100 participants took part in training programme on topics such as FME & Python, tips & tricks, and 3D data processing with FME.
In addition to the diverse conference programme, the impressive venue in the Zeche Zollverein also helped make transformation come alive.
Next year, the FME World Tour will be touring through Germany again. We will let you know about this in due course on www.fme-wt.de and on our websites.
